33rd Annual Session Recap

Success at Annual Session!

Over April 30 and May 1, we went to Annapolis and met with delegations from around the state to participate in the 33rd Annual Session of Maryland Student Legislature. Attendance included over 30 students from UMBC, Towson University, Mount St. Mary's University, Hood College, McDaniel College, University of Maryland, Howard Community College, Chesapeake College, and St. Mary's College of Maryland. Out of 31 bills on the docket, 18 were considered and 17 passed the assembly. All of the bills that were passed will be forwarded to the Maryland General Assembly for their consideration.

Many of our members were recognized for their skills this session. All of the bills submitted by our delegation were passed by the assembly. Alexxus Richardson was awarded the Best Delegate Award and Jacob Ridgway was awarded the Best Act Award for his act A004-2122 Child Arrest Protection Act. Co-Vice Chair Aurora Quezada will be serving at the Secretary of State on the 2022-23 Council of State. Finally, our delegation co-won the Best Delegation Award with McDaniel College.
