Experience

In UMBC’s 10 intellectual sports student organizations, members turn abstract knowledge into concrete experiences including but not limited to:

  • Students assist each other in acquiring skills as varied as crafting legislature, building engines, and cross-examining witnesses.
  • They benefit immensely from acquiring crucial competencies like teamwork, time management, communication, and problem-solving.
  • It’s a low-stakes way for them to take their future for a test drive—sometimes literally!
  • Intellectual sports help students find friends with similar interests and get connected on campus.

Students benefit from these tangible applications and the power skills that accompany them – crucial competencies like teamwork, time management, communication, and problem-solving.
